In recent hours, the possibility of FC Barcelona signing Federico Chiesa has gained significant traction and according to a report from SPORT, Juventus are open to selling the Italian winger, primarily to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.

Barcelona, who are actively seeking to strengthen their right wing, have been linked with several players, including Nico Williams, Luis Diaz, and Kingsley Coman.

However, the club’s ongoing financial difficulties have made it challenging to secure their top targets. As a result, they have been forced to reconsider their options.

Chiesa could be the answer

As a result, Chiesa has emerged as a potential solution for Barcelona, and the circumstances surrounding his situation are favourable for a deal.

The Italian is currently at odds with Juventus over his contract, which is set to expire in 2025. If an agreement is not reached, he could leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Juventus are keen to avoid this scenario and are looking to sell him now to prevent him from strengthening a direct Serie A rival.

It must be noted that at 26 years of age, Chiesa has a promising career ahead of him. His reputation remains solid, and he is considered one of the top talents in Italian football.

Chiesa is not in any hurry

For now, it is said that he is not in a hurry to force an exit from Juventus. If he remains at the club, he could sign a pre-contract with any team of his choosing in January.

Juventus, on the other hand, are eager to sell him before this happens. One of the biggest fears for them is that the player could commit to Inter Milan, who might attempt to sign him for a reduced fee as the transfer window draws to a close, or even worse, wait until 2025 to sign him on a free transfer.

Other Italian clubs, such as Napoli, AC Milan, and Roma, are also monitoring his situation, as he remains a highly sought-after player in Italy.

At this stage, Barcelona could become Juventus’ preferred option for this transfer. Moving him to Barcelona would prevent him from joining a direct Serie A rival. Additionally, Chiesa himself might be excited by the prospect of playing in La Liga.
