In what could be massive news for Barcelona, Juventus have finalised a deal for Nicolas Gonzalez, a 26-year-old winger from Fiorentina, indicating that Federico Chiesa might be on his way out of the club.

It must be noted that Chiesa has been a key target for Barcelona in their efforts to bolster their attacking options before the transfer market closes.

The announcement of Gonzalez’s move came on Sunday when Juventus confirmed his arrival.

Interestingly, his transfer is structured as a loan with an obligation to purchase. Juventus will pay €8 million for the loan, with an additional €25 million due for the permanent transfer, plus €5 million in performance-related bonuses.

Green light for Chiesa’s exit?

This new signing is a clear indication that Chiesa’s future with Juventus is in doubt. The Italian winger has expressed his reluctance to renew his contract, which is set to expire in 2025.

Furthermore, Juventus’ coach, Thiago Motta, has made it known that the winger will not be a part of the team’s plans for the upcoming Serie A season.

To further complicate matters, Juventus are also finalising the loan deal for Francisco Conceicao, a Portuguese winger with a profile similar to Chiesa’s.

Given this situation, there is growing speculation in Italy that Chiesa could be heading to Barcelona this summer.

Barcelona and Chiesa are hopeful

Chiesa is reportedly hopeful about making the move to Barcelona, recognising that Juventus will likely facilitate his departure due to his current contract situation.

Barcelona are indeed considering the Italian as a viable option to enhance their squad, though their top priority remains signing Rafa Leao.

For now, though, AC Milan are proving to be tough negotiators regarding his transfer, but Barcelona are optimistic.

They believe they can complete a deal that will generate significant revenue, allowing them to enter the transfer market without restrictions imposed by Financial Fair Play regulations.
