Newcastle could replace one Brazilian with another amid doubts about Joelinton's future at the club.
A dispute over wages could see Joelinton depart and the Magpies have started to draw up a list of potential alternatives for the all-action midfielder and chief scout Steve Nixon has taken a personal check on Atalanta ace Ederson.

Joelinton, a player revitalised by Eddie Howe, is into the last 18 months of his deal and highly unlikely to play again this season due to injury.
Unless a compromise agreement can be reached he is not inclined to extend his contract.
Double-edged Blades
Sheffield United are interested in not one but TWO Everton defenders.
The Blades are earmarking possible replacements for sought-after Anel Ahmedhodzic, who is attracting the attention of defending Italian champions Napoli, and talkSPORT understands they are keeping tabs on both Mason Holgate AND Ben Godfrey.
Holgate has spent a largely unfruitful spell on loan at Southampton for the first half of the season and would be keen to move to Bramall Lane in search of more minutes on the pitch.
Toffees teammate Godfrey is also open to departing Goodison Park after falling out of favour with manager Sean Dyche.

Cooper on the hunt
Graeme Souness tells Simon Jordan of Jose Mourinho's biggest regret at Manchester United was getting rid of Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Steve Cooper is ready to return to work – which could be bad news for under-pressure Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson.
Cooper has been out of a job since being sacked by Nottingham Forest in December and talkSPORT has been told the Welshman is keen to get back to the dugout at the earliest opportunity.
Palace owner Steve Parish has had a long-standing interest in Cooper and is believed to have growing reservations about Hodgson’s position as the Eagles continue to slide down the Premier League table.
Hodgson is expected to remain at the helm for the visit of Sheffield United next week but another defeat against a team rooted in the bottom three will leave Parish with a major decision to make.
