The summer transfer window is in full swing. All European clubs are looking to strengthen but also to trim their squad. On the verge of registering the return of Ilkay Gundogan (who will leave FC Barcelona), Manchester City is also looking to lighten its squad.

Back in the Mancunian squad after his one-season loan to Barça, Joao Cancelo is no longer wanted by Pep Guardiola. The Portuguese also wants to set sail and find a new place to stay. The ideal for him would have been to stay at Barça but the Catalan club did not have the means to keep him.

According to media reports Sports Zone, The Citizens are reportedly pushing for the Portuguese full-back to join Saudi Arabia and the Al-Hilal club. The Saudi club would like to land the 30-year-old defender. The Saudi champion is reportedly offering a salary of 16 million euros per year to the former Bayern Munich player.

Under contract until June 2027

What will the future hold for Joao Cancelo? The Portuguese player is unlikely to stay at Manchester City this season. Under contract until June 2027, he has a good chance of finding a new club and a new project with the aim of settling down for good.

His market value currently stands at 25 million euros according to the Transfermarkt website. A sum that should not scare the Saudi club in the event of a transfer in the coming days…
