Transfer window: nobody wants to go to Liverpool!

A stronghold of the Premier League, Liverpool is today considered one of the most influential clubs in the world of football. Due to its history, titles and traditions, many players hope to one day wear the Reds jersey and listen to the legendary “You’ll Never Walk Alone” when they enter the Anfield pitch. In recent years, Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah, still at the club, have thus brought happiness to the team based in the North West of England. A historical attractiveness however far from being confirmed during this summer window. After the departure of Jürgen Klopp and the arrival of Arne Slot on the bench of the English team, Liverpool – certainly entered into a new era – is indeed encountering many difficulties on the transfer market…

The situation is simple. As of August 19, 2024, Liverpool has still not signed a single new recruit. A discretion that logically raises some questions, especially for a European club, aiming to wage war on Manchester City or Arsenal for the Premier League title. Very discreet in terms of arrivals, Liverpool must also manage several hot issues, namely securing the future of three key players in the Klopp era: Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.

Arne Slot sets the tone for the end of the transfer window!

For the former, his future is still dotted on the banks of the Mersey. At the end of his contract in a year, the Egyptian striker does not know what his future will be made of. As a reminder, if Liverpool’s leaders are sounding out the market for his successor, a sale of the Pharaoh is not yet on the agenda, despite offers from Saudi Arabia. If Liverpool are therefore on the verge of securing their key players – although Luis Diaz is for his part associated with an interest from Manchester City – the end of the summer transfer window could also allow the Reds to come and strengthen an already successful collective. Questioned on this subject after his successful first on the Ipswich pitch (2-0), Arne Slot also confirmed his desire to see certain reinforcements arrive if an opportunity presented itself: “I think our squad is really strong and it’s not easy to find players who can strengthen us.
