As their first playoff game of the season approaches, the Kansas City Chiefs are getting grilled by the sports press. And Travis Kelce is, as usual, acting as a team leader and taking interviews head on.
While most of his talk with Stephen A. Smith on Wednesday was about facing the Houston Texans, dealing with tricky schedules, and wrestling with the possibility of retirement… the ESPN vet had to bring up Taylor Swift.

Stephen A. asked the tight end about his personal life, how that was going generally — though he hinted he was referring to Tay as he said with a wink that Trav is “living a bit better than most” these days! LOLz! Travis responded:
“I’m enjoying all aspects of life, that’s for damn sure. Me and Taylor are happy, and I couldn’t be happier to have that confidence and that comfort off the field, and all the support I could ever ask for in the stadium.”
After revealing he’d finally brought his daughters to her Eras Tour show and LOVED it, Stephen A. had to wonder how Trav thinks having such a rich life off the field affects his performance. After all, being truly happy can make one complacent, especially in a sport that takes a lot of mental drive — and a healthy amount of aggression. So how does he feel now that he’s “hit the jackpot”?
“Well, I think personally that’s the beauty of being in a very strong relationship, is that you get that support to be able to come in and focus on your craft, on being the best version of you.”
Awww! We love his take here! And it goes both ways! He explained:
“That’s why I wanted to be at the concerts supporting her and being there for her, making sure she feels comfortable and supported in everything she’s doing in life.”
Damn! For someone the internet is convinced is a big, dumb guy he sure sounds like he has this all figured out!
And don’t worry about his football focus, Chiefs fans! He added:
“I think I’m as focused as I’ve ever been on my job and being the best player I can possibly be, week in and week out for this team, and it’s because I don’t have to worry about things off the field.”
We love that! If he’s not worried about anything off the field, that must mean they aren’t having any relationship problems AT ALL! Sorry, conspiracy theorists!
Speaking of theories, there definitely have been some fans who are convinced Tay wants Trav to retire — after all, it’s kind of a dangerous sport, it takes its toll on his body AND his time. Well?
“She’s fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game. She loves coming to Arrowhead and coming to the games and cheering for me. So I have all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams.”
Ch-ch-check out the full interview, with the personal talk starting about 31:30 (below)!
