Travis Kelce is giving back to his community!
Despite the playoffs rapidly approaching for the Kansas City Chiefs star, he’s not too busy to look out for the little guy. When he got word that 79-year-old Gloria White needed help rebuilding her home of 56 years, he and his 87 & Running foundation came to the rescue. According to KSHB on Friday, the longtime KC resident called local project Rebuilding Together Kansas City after a sewage leak in her basement — and sadly, after helpers arrived, they realized her home was in much worse condition than they originally thought.

Gloria — who was an athlete herself btw, the first ever Black cheerleader at her Topeka middle school — needed a lot of work done. Her home required sewer system repairs, new doors, new basement steps, a new hot water heater, a new kitchen sink, safety bars in the bathroom, fire safety equipment, and MUCH MORE. The house was in shambles, it sounds like! So sad!
But luckily, through the help of former Chiefs player Otis Taylor — who married one of Gloria’s relatives — Trav caught wind of the dire situation. So his foundation donated all the costs of repair to Rebuilding Together! Scott Hickox, the executive director of the local project, told the outlet:
“When we looked at her home, we realized there were lots of other things she needed — a new roof, she needed gutters, she needed safety latches on the doors, she needed work in the bathroom and kitchen.”
He added about the tight end with the big heart:
“For Travis to care enough and his foundation to care enough about his community and what’s happening in Kansas City, this meant the world he could partner with us … [Glorida] desires to stay in this neighborhood and the neighborhood is better because she’s here.”
Aww!
While speaking to the outlet herself, Gloria said she wants to continue to give back to the community, just like these organizations that have helped her:
“I’ve been here 56 years. They know Miss Gloria. I am about people … All races of kids in my backyard, I taught them, don’t [ever] think ‘can’t’ — you wait, you keep on, and you’ll do something.”
What a heartwarming story! We’re so glad to hear Travis doing good work like this. No wonder Taylor Swift sees a future with this fella!
