Travis Kelce shares bold message amid backlash to pre-Super Bowl date night with Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce appears to be fully focused on Super Bowl 2025 despite his New Orleans date night with girlfriend Taylor Swift on Friday.

After fans said his romantic evening with the “Cruel Summer” songstress was a “bad look” and made it look like he might be “unfocused,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end took to Instagram to share a hype message.

Alongside a video of him excelling on the field, he wrote, “🗣️Don’t peak too soon!!”

His Saturday message didn’t appear to be a direct response to the negative online chatter, but the clip did make it clear that Kelce is fully prepared to take on the Philadelphia Eagles inside Caesars Superdome on Sunday.

Kelce’s social media video comes less than 24 hours after he was spotted on a double date with Swift, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany.

While many Swifties were elated to see the couples out and about, there were a number of NFL fans who criticized Kelce’s perceived lack of focus.

One commenter said Kelce looked “unfocused,” while another wrote, “Bad look. Kelce supposed to be locked in and watching film. I’m sure that could have waited.”

A third person added, “Normally the players do not go out the week before they are playing in the Super Bowl because of how seriously they take the game, or so I’m told. Even saw an old clip of that Kelce guy saying that.”

Last year, while speaking on his “New Heights” podcast ahead of the Chiefs’ participation in Super Bowl 2024, Kelce told his brother, Jason Kelce, “We’ve got one week, we do what we need to do then we can party in Vegas for the rest of our lives.”

The Chiefs did end up beating the San Francisco 49ers last year, so it’s possible that Kelce’s commitment to being disciplined in the build-up to the big game played a role in their big win.

However, based on Kelce’s latest Instagram message, he seems just as prepared to win this year’s Super Bowl.

If he and the Chiefs are crowned the winners, it’ll be Kelce’s fourth time being a Super Bowl champ. The team previously won in 2020, 2023 and 2024. This year’s win would also make it a three-peat — the first time a team has ever won three Super Bowls in a row.
