Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed he wants to become the best right-back of all time and would rather win a Ballon d’Or than a World Cup.
The 26-year-old spoke about what he wants to achieve in his career, how he wants to be perceived in the years to come and why he would rather win football’s greatest individual honor than a World Cup with England.
When asked how he wanted to be perceived after his career, he told Sky Sports: “ A football legend, someone who changed the game. It’s an important saying I have: ‘Don’t play the game, change the game’. I want to leave this legacy of being the greatest right back of all time. I want to reach for the stars and that’s where I believe I can go. »

He added: “ I would rather say winning a Ballon d’Or (than winning a World Cup). Because I believe in it. I want to be the first full-back to achieve this. Only after you retire can you look in the mirror and say, “I gave it my all.” It doesn’t matter how many trophies you win or how many medals you have, what matters is how much you give to the game and whether you reach your full potential. »
Alexander-Arnold has become a part of Liverpool legend since making his debut for his boyhood club in the 2016/17 season. The England international has scored 19 goals, made 83 assists, made 321 appearances and won a bunch of trophies along the way. But this season could be his last at Liverpool as he is yet to sign a new contract with the club, with his current deal expiring next summer amid reported interest from Real Madrid.
