The actress – who became the country’s National Crush after her portrayal of Zoya, has recently opened up about how the criticism she received for her bold performance in the 2023 top-grosser.
Triptii Dimri reveals crying inconsolably over Animal criticism
During a recent interaction with Ranveer Allahbadia on his YouTube channel, Triptii Dimri got candid about her early struggles, her rise to fame and the emotional toll the audience’s criticism took on her post the release of Animal. During the conversation, the actress admitted to crying for 2-3 days because she wasn’t prepared for the harsh comments directed at her. Talking about the mixed reaction she received for her bold scenes in the film, the actress said, “Roti thi because dimaag khraab hogaya tha ke kya likh rahe hain log (I would cry because I got mad thinking what people were writing).”
Adding that she found some online remarks to be unnecessarily cruel, Triptii revealed it was her sister who helped her process the backlash and advised her to take ownership of her journey. Her sister’s words encouraged her to stop dwelling on negativity and move forward. Reflecting on her emotional reaction, Triptii added, “Sometimes, crying is the body’s way of telling you to release your trauma.”
Describing her pre-Animal self as relaxed and carefree, the actress noted that the Ranbir Kapoor starrer gained her both more work as well as scrutiny. She stated that while she’s grateful for the opportunities and global love she’s received, the criticism was a new experience. She said, “There was no criticism before Animal, but I suppose that’s the side effect of being in a mainstream film.”
