Trish Stratus never expected Lil Kim to sing her entrance music.
In 2002, the WWE Hall of Famer changed her theme song to “Time To Rock & Roll”. It was sung by the American rapper and singer Lil Kim, and was a rare collaboration between the WWE and a mainstream artist.
The song became synonymous with Trish Stratus during the latter half of her run in the WWE. Coupled with the signature giggle at the start of the song, it became an instantly recognizable tune for fans to latch onto.
Getting Lil Kim was an absolute coup for the WWE, which Trish Stratus agreed. Furthermore, she was shocked they managed to wrangle getting the hip hop star to collaborate with them.
Trish Stratus spoke with Adrian Hernandez and was asked about how she got Lil Kim to sing her entrance music.
The Canadian revealed that she was the one who suggested getting the artist for her entrance. In addition, said it was part of her bucket list, and now Trish Stratus has a little connection with Lil Kim.
“I mean, I suggested her never thinking we’d get her.” Trish Stratus said. “I was like, I don’t know. Bucket list, let’s go for Lil’ Kim. I did not think we’d actually get Lil’ Kim. So yeah, we got Lil’ Kim. I was amazed. You think about Attitude Era stuff, the things we got back in the day. That was a super collab before there were even collabs. So, pretty cool. I got her, and we’ve spoken. We’ve met a couple of times and talked about it, and now we have that little connection, which is always cool as well.”
