Tristan Thompson officially has become his younger brother Amari’s legal guardian following the death of their mother, Andrea, one year ago.
The Los Angeles County Superior Court granted the NBA player sole guardianship of Amari, 17, on Monday, court documents obtained by Page Six show.
Tristan, 32, first filed for temporary guardianship over Amari in September, claiming their father, Trevor, has played no role in raising the teenager, who has epilepsy and other medical conditions, since 2014.
The Cleveland Cavaliers player first filed to become Amari’s guardian in September. The guardianship will allow Tristan to take care of Amari’s needs, including navigating his $100,000 inheritance from their mom. InstagramNever Miss a Story

“The Court finds that it is not in the Minor best interest to be returned to his/her parents’ previous country of nationality,” the documents state of Amari’s Canadian birth.
The judge also ruled a reunion between Amari and Trevor is “not viable due to neglect, abandonment under California law.”

Tristan will also handle Amari’s $103,475 inheritance he received from his late mother.

The siblings live in the Cleveland Cavaliers player’s Hidden Hills, Calif., house, but lived with his ex Khloé Kardashian for a period of time after a storm damaged Tristan’s property.
“I’m grateful that I’m strong enough and brave enough to be a support system for someone else that has no other support system right now,” she said during an episode of the “Kardashians.”
“You don’t have to treat me right for me to treat you right, it’s not the way I was raised.”
Khloé even threw Amari a birthday party at her estate last summer.
“Someone is 17 today!!!! Happy birthday sweet sweet Amari!!! We are all so blessed to have been touched by an angel such as you 💙 you are truly one of Gods greatest treasures 💙,” Kardashian, 39, captioned her celebratory post.
