Justin Sun highlighted that AI’s ability to murder a billion people would make it a ruler.

In a recent post on the X social media platform, Tron founder Justin Sun asked an intriguing question about when Artificial Intelligence (AI) would kill the eight billionth person. Sun’s question follows rapid technological advancements in AI technology.

Justin Sun Raises Concerns on AI and Robotics Integrations

Justin Sun began by stating that he recently tested the second iteration of Xiaomi’s CyberDog robot. According to him, the Cyberdog possesses a high level of strength which can evoke a level of fear in people who are not its owner.

Notably, CyberDog is Xiaomi’s first attempt at a quadruped robotic animal for the open-source community and developers worldwide. CyberDog’s brain is powered by NVIDIA’s Jetson Xavier NX platform, an AI supercomputer for embedded and edge systems.

While CyberDog2 is less scary than the original, with a head that resembles a real dog’s head, and sharp ears, Sun stated the new robot has prompted him to reflect on the potential risks AI poses to humans.

Justin Sun noted the first human death that will be caused by AI would make headlines globally. He, however, believes that a lot of people could think that this was an inevitable accident brought about by technological advancements. He painted scenarios such as loopholes in ethical frameworks like the three Laws of Robotics, or even legally authorized actions by robotic police or armies.

When will the eight billionth person be killed by AI?

In the past few days, I've tried the second generation of Xiaomi's Cyberdog robot. Due to Cyberdog’s great strength, it creates a sense of fear in those who are not its owner. This has led me to ponder a profound question:…

The founder of Tron continued by stating that the first AI-caused death would take place for a second one, adding that by this time, humans would have less time to react. In following this pattern, Sun claims the eight billionth AI death might happen as soon as three months after the first likely murder case.

A Convergence of AI, Robotics, and Blockchain

Moving further, Sun pointed out that Blockchain will act as the third ace in the hole needed to transform a person’s abilities into organizational abilities. According to him, Blockchain is rather a currency of machines than of humans.

To explain this viewpoint, Sun noted that Machines can utilize blockchain to rob humans, hire humans, hire machines, build a large number of machines to fulfill their objectives, and even mobilize resources to control vital resources such as energy computing power, which can then be converted into cryptocurrency for payment.

Drawing the discussion to a close, Sun highlighted that the convergence of blockchain, robotics, and AI would unleash the last potential of artificial intelligence. To Sun, if  AI eventually gets to this point, the super alignment and the Three Laws of Robotics’ constraints on robots will be extremely weak. When such power is unleashed, Sun believes the first human reaction may be to launch an arms race with the blockchain rather than halting the growth of robots.

Finally, Sun stated that the time for the release of this technical power is approaching faster than before. “The technologies of AI, robotics, and blockchain have all reached the ‘iPhone moment’,” he said.
