Troy Kotsur, who won the Oscar for his role in CODA, is heading back to Apple.
Kotsur is joining the third season of Foundation.
It comes as the series, which comes from Skydance TV, postponed a return to production. Deadline revealed that the series was set to re-start production this month but due to issues related to budgeting and physical production, it was pushed to March 6 in the Czech Republic and Poland.
The sci-drama stars Jared Harris and Lee Pace.
Kotsur will star as Preem Palver, the leader of a planet of psychics.
Based on Isaac Asimov’s trilogy, the series chronicles the saga of The Foundation, a band of exiles who discover that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to defy it. It follows the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.
In addition to Pace and Harris, Foundation stars Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann, Isabella Laughland, Kulvinder Ghir, Ella-Rae Smith, Holt McCallany, Rachel House, Nimrat Kaur, Ben Daniels and Dimitri Leonidas.
Foundation is produced for Apple by Skydance Television. David S. Goyer, who serves as showrunner, exec produces alongside Alex Graves, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Bill Bost, and Robin Asimov.
