With Turkish clubs able to facilitate deals until Friday, there’s a slim chance Manchester United could see one player make the move abroad.
Per The Sun, cited by Football Insider, Fenerbache are in ‘pole position’ to sign Antony on loan for the season after he informed Red Devils chiefs of his desire to leave.
While such an imminent exit may be far-fetched, it’s not impossible to believe that the winger may be looking for a way out at Old Trafford. He has featured only once in the side’s opening three Premier League matches, making a one-minute cameo off the bench as United fell to a 2-1 defeat at the Amex.
Why Antony may be pushing for Fenerbache move
Amad Diallo’s impressive emergence into the first team has seen him leapfrog Antony, who earns a reported £200,000 per week, in the pecking order, while Alejandro Garnacho was preferred to him across the majority of the 2023/2024 campaign. He is also unlikely to displace Marcus Rashford, given that he’s incapable of playing on the left flank.
In Erik ten Hag’s maiden transfer window, United forked out £86 million to acquire Antony’s services from Ajax. He has since registered just 11 goals in 83 appearances across all competitions and is on course to go down as the club’s worst-ever signing in history.
