Plateau building collapse
Tragedy struck again in Kano on Thursday following the collapse of a two-storey building in the Nomansland area of Sabon Gari, Fagge Local Government Area of the state.
Two persons were said to have lost their lives, and many others who were injured were rescued in the ongoing rescue operation.
The incident was said to have occurred around 2 am on Thursday, following several hours of a downpour that caused flooding due to the overflow of a nearby waterway.
Confirming the incident in a telephone interview, the Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, said so far two survivors had been rescued as the rescue operation continued.
“As I am talking to you, two persons have been rescued by our personnel while the rescue operation is still ongoing,” he said.
On the number of casualties, Abdullahi said he could not confirm the number of deaths until after the rescue operation was completed.
“We are doing everything possible to ensure that no one is left behind in this tragedy,” said Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, spokesperson for the Fire Service.”
