Jokanovic is a well-known face in the EFL having previously managed Fulham, Watford and Sheffield United.

The Serbian guided Watford to promotion to the Premier League in 2015, before doing it again with Fulham in 2018.

Jokanovic was most recently managing Russian side Dynamo Moscow, however he's now a leading candidate to return to England with Hull.

Hull's search for a new boss comes after Walter's reign in east Yorkshire struggled to get going.

Walter was appointed over the summer following the controversial decision to sack Liam Rosenior after Hull narrowly missed out on a spot in the play-offs.

The hope was that Hull would be able to challenge for the top six once again, but his time in charge ended up lasting just six months.

A 2-0 defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday evening sealed Walter's fate with fans making this discontent very clear with loud boos at the final whistle.

Walter departs having won just three of his 18 games in charge across the Championship and EFL Cup.

That run has left Hull in 22nd place in the Championship with just 15 points from 17 games.

Announcing the news on Wednesday, a Hull statement read: "Hull City can confirm we have parted company with head coach Tim Walter with immediate effect.

"Assistant head coaches Julian Hübner and Filip Tapalović have also left the club.

"First-team coach Andy Dawson will take interim charge while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a permanent successor.

"We would like to thank Tim, Julian and Filip for their efforts during their time at the MKM Stadium and wish them well for the future."
