Gaming giant Ubisoft has revealed its pioneering Web3 game will go live later this October.

Ubisoft is notable for creating successful games like Assassin’s Creed. It plans to launch the new game with Oasis Layer-2 HOME Verse. This announcement is nearly a year after the first hint it gave per its Web3 debut at IVS Kyoto.
Ubisoft Targets Gameplay Enhancement with New Title
For perspective, the Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles game is a tactical RPG in which players assemble a team of mythical Champions and engage them in Player-versus-Player (PvP) battles. The champions are digital collectibles and part of a 75,000-character collection. They serve as the primary characters in the dark fantasy world of Grimoria. The characters, or Champions, have unique traits and abilities.
This will enable players to build and optimize their ultimate team. Players would strategically select their team of three Champions, with which they can dominate their opponents and seize glory in intense PvP showdowns.
Nicolas Pouard, VP of Ubisoft Lab, noted that the gaming firm aims to deliver innovative experiences to its players. With Champions Tactics, the team aims to fuse Web3 technology into the background without hassle. This will allow players to fully immerse themselves in the fun and strategy of the game.
“Our focus is on enhancing gameplay by unlocking new possibilities, and with the champion creation forge, we’re recreating the joy of playing with real toys and miniatures, bringing that hands-on excitement into the digital realm,” Pouard said.
The game includes a crafting system dubbed Forge. Here, players are empowered to craft new Champions by blending the unique powers and traits from their existing collection. They would unlock limitless possibilities for strategic mastery to enhance team dynamics.
Ubisoft noted that the Forge innovation is essential for refining their roster and dominating the leaderboard.
More NFT Launch in the Ubisoft Ecosystem
Before this time, the publicly traded gaming platform also rolled out 9,999 free Ethereum NFT Profile Pictures (PFPs). The project, which debuted in late 2023, is called The Warlords. Each Non-Fungible Token (NFT) has a minimum price of $60 worth of ETH in secondary marketplaces.
As of December 2023, the Warlord NFTs had raked in over $2 million in secondary market sales. It is worth noting that this marked the time when only 7% of the NFTs were listed. Fans could claim these NFTs at no cost, outside of paying gas fees for the Ethereum network.
In 2021, Ubisoft also launched Tezos-based NFTs for its Ghost Recon: Breakpoint PC game. In a recent announcement, the firm hinted at the launch of another upcoming blockchain game, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., which will go live on the Ethereum scaling network Arbitrum.
