EXCLUSIVE: Max Holloway is used to cameras capturing his exploits in the octagon, but they’re now following him outside the UFC ring in an upcoming documentary.

Dream Bay Entertainment and Hamblin Imagery have teamed up to create a currently-untitled film about the iconic UFC featherweight that’s being billed as “the definitive documentary” on his life.

Let’s Be Frank director Peter Hamblin is directing and exec producing, and Dream Bay founder Thomas Drachkovitch is aboard as exec producer. We hear early noises from buyers has been very positive.

The film will follow Holloway, as he embarks on what is anticipated to be his biggest year yet, both professionally and personally. It will chart the Hawaiian fighter’s rise to fame in the UFC, his legacy as one of its most resilient and entertaining fighters and his role as a father and native of Hawaii. Included are exclusive interviews, archive and behind-the-scenes footage and a deep dive into his rigorous training camps as he prepares for high stakes fights in 2025.

Producers say it will “delve deeper into Holloway’s legacy and capture his unique blend of humility, humor, and warrior spirit that has made him a fan favorite worldwide.”

Holloway recently suffered the first knockout defeat of his career to the undefeated Georgian-Spanish featherweight champion Ilia Topuria at UFC 308, but is widely considered one of the most competitive fighters in mixed martial arts history. Having joined the UFC in 2012, he has faced the likes of Conor McGregor, José Aldo, Anthony Pettis and Justin Gaethje, and was featherweight champ between 2017 and 2019.

“I’ve always wanted to share my story in a way that feels true to who I am,” said Holloway. “Partnering with Peter and Thomas gives me the chance to show not just my fans, but the world, who I am beyond the octagon — what motivates me, what I’ve overcome, and how I’m preparing for what’s ahead. It’s going to be a wild year, and I’m excited to bring everyone along for the ride.”

Hamblin, know for surfing films Let’s Be Frank, Riss and Sweet Adventure, said: “Max’s story is one of grit, perseverance, and immense heart. He’s not just a UFC fighter — he’s a global icon, a father, and a guy who’s been through it all. Thomas and I are excited to reveal the many layers to his story in a way that fans haven’t seen before.”

Drachkovitch, the former Amazon Studios commissioner, founded Dream Bay last year, following his role as a commissioner at Amazon Studios and now runs the production and management business with former CAA agent Jason Hafford. While working on Prime Video’s international originals slate, he worked on sports docs such as the All or Nothing franchise, Sons of the Soil: Jaipur Pink Panthers and Ben Stokes: Phoenix from the Ashes

“Max is one of the most exciting and respected athletes of our generation, and his story deserves to be told with authenticity and depth,” said Drachkovitch. “With Peter’s direction and our team’s expertise, this documentary will provide fans with an intimate and unique look at Max’s life, showing a side of him never seen before. We’re eager to share Max’s extraordinary journey with fans around the world.”
