Last month, Donald Trump declared in an all caps social media post that he “HATE(s)” Taylor Swift after the superstar endorsed Kamala Harris.

Odd, then, that this week he’s using one of Swift’s songs in a campaign video aimed at appealing to women.

A clip, captioned “Women for Trump,” was recently posted to the GOP candidate’s official Team Trump Instagram account. It features Laura Trump and a bevy of pink clad, MAGA-supporting women — including Savannah Chrisley and Sage Steele — singing along to lines from Swift’s 2013 tune “22” before the soundtrack abruptly skips to Trump acolyte Forgiato Blow’s “Trump Trump Baby.” It’s a bizarre mashup, especially given the candidate’s oft-professed dislike for the Tortured Poets Department singer-songwriter.

Of course, there is a long list of songs by Trump-opposed artists whose work the former president has made use of during his campaign. Many of those artists have asked him to cease and desist.

Among the more unusual choices for the former president has been his de-facto campaign anthem “Y.M.C.A.” — especially given his frequent attacks on LGBTQ+ people and anti-gay policies.
