Unai Emery has told Aston Villa to sign Mario Hermoso this summer from Atletico Madrid according to reports.

Villa are enjoying a brilliant season under Emery and are on the verge of a top four finish which will give them Champions League football next season.

The Midlands outfit are seven points clear of Spurs having played a game more than their rivals, and have just two games left starting with Monday night’s match against Liverpool before finishing the season with a trip to in form Crystal Palace.

Aston Villa want Hermoso?

Villa are reportedly in the market for a centre back this summer, and have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid’s Hermoso.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo have reported the 28-year-old could be on his way to Villa Park this summer.

Hermoso is out of contract with Atletico at the end of the season.

The reports adds that Emery is believed to have held talks with the defender and has informed him of his desire to bring him to England.

Hermoso is out of contract with Atletico in June, and it’s believed no talks over a new deal have taken place, meaning he could leave as a free agent at the end of the season.

The Spaniard has been a key part of Atletico’s defence this season and has made 41 appearances in all competitions, with 27 of those coming in La Liga.

Mundo Deportivo claim there is also interest from Besiktas, Inter Milan, Juventus and clubs from Saudi Arabia.

A player with the European experience of Hermoso would be a great addition to the Villa squad as they likely embark on a Champions League campaign next season.

However, it has been reported Diego Carlos could be on his way out of the club with the 31-year-old believed to be AC Milan’s main target, but Villa will be desperate to keep hold of the defender.
