Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo is reportedly mulling over his future at Old Trafford ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Daily Mail’s United Confidential column claims that the Ivorian is considering returning to Sunderland after overseeing a scintillating loan spell on Wearside last season; Amad notched 14 goals – one of which came in the play-off semi-finals – and four assists under Tony Mowbray.
While Mowbray has since been replaced in the Stadium of Light dugout, the Black Cats’ interest in Amad is still as strong as ever. They’ve been looking to bring him back ever since his temporary move came to an end, however, a long-term knee injury that he sustained on United’s pre-season tour kept him out of action for the first half of the current campaign.
Amad seemingly frustrated with lack of game time
Since making his return to the fold, Amad has been granted just one appearance – a 36-minute cameo against Nottingham Forest on December 30.
When he was benched for the whole of Sunday’s win over League Two outfit Newport County, the player liked – and then subsequently unliked – a post on X from a Sunderland supporter (@RejectedBook) that read: “Here, @Amaddiallo_19 – if they’re not going to start you in the FA Cup away at Newport County it really really isn’t worth you giving them your time. Come home, come somewhere you are truly appreciated . . . #SAFC”.

Alas, it looks as though Amad has taken heed of the fan’s plea, as Chris Wheeler states that Diallo is ‘interested in rejoining Sunderland for the rest of the campaign’.
