Manchester United chiefs are frantically scouring the market in hopes of acquiring a cut-price midfield signing before deadline day.
The Red Devils have found themselves linked with a host of names, more recently the likes of Youssouf Fofana, Manuel Ugarte and Sander Berge.
However, with Fofana only having eyes for AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain setting a ludicrous price tag for Ugarte, Berge is seemingly the most likely candidate as it stands.
It’s already been widely reported that United accelerated their interest by approaching his representatives last week, while Berge is also thought to be keen on a move to Old Trafford, having dropped down to the Championship with Burnley last season.
Berge’s absence has fans thinking he’s United-bound
A concrete offer is yet to be made from the Reds’ end, but any potential deal may be further along than you’d think, as the midfielder was omitted from the matchday squad for last night’s clash with Luton Town.

Prior to the Monday evening kick-off, there’d been no suggestion that Berge had sustained an injury of any sort – yet picking one up during the night’s affairs could’ve ruled out any prospective switch.
