Brentford have set their asking price for Ivan Toney ahead of a potential bidding war for the talisman this summer.

The 28-year-old has frequently made clear his desire to leave the Bees for what he classes as a bigger club, presumably one fighting for some form of European football.

He’s certainly got the quality to lead the line for any Premier League outfit; he’s proven he can perform week in, week out in the top flight and is now in the prime of his career. In his 81 top-flight appearances, Toney has scored 36 goals and assisted a further 10.

Despite only returning to competitive action from his betting ban in January, his efforts at club level saw him called up to represent England in March’s camp. Toney subsequently earned his second cap and netted his first-ever Three Lions goal, and there’s no doubt that he’s in contention for a place on the plane to Germany this summer.

Whether or not Manchester United would ignite a pursuit of the Bees skipper remains to be seen. Reports strongly suggest that they’ll be looking to sign another striker in the summer in hopes of easing the goalscoring burden on young Rasmus Hojlund.

Alas, should the Reds choose to rival the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham United for Toney’s signature, they can expect to pay a fee of around £30-40 million, according to Florian Plettenberg.
