Manchester United players are said to feel aggrieved towards Marcus Rashford after the player’s recent behavioural issue.

The forward spent two nights clubbing in Belfast last Wednesday and Thursday evening, as confirmed by The Athletic, which led to him reporting ill for the team’s training session at Carrington on Friday morning.

He was subsequently omitted from the matchday squad that took on Newport County on Sunday, with United citing illness as the reason behind his absence.

After arriving for talks yesterday morning alongside his agent – and brother – Dwaine Maynard, it was later confirmed that Rashford had taken full accountability for the matter. A statement from the club was shared by Laurie Whitwell, detailing that the ‘internal disciplinary matter’ was now ‘closed’.

Erik ten Hag will have the England international back at his disposal for Thursday’s trip to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux, with Rashford having now resumed full training.

Rashford finds himself in hot water

However, a fresh update from the Daily Mail suggests that the 26-year-old’s antics didn’t resonate so well with others in the dressing room. Chris Wheeler’s article states: “Marcus Rashford’s team-mates are angry with the Manchester United star over the latest lapse of discipline that has landed him in trouble with manager Erik ten Hag.

“They were upset to discover the real reason for his absence in the build-up to United’s trip to Newport County in the FA Cup, which is the club’s only realistic chance of a trophy this season.”
