Manchester United are hoping to catapult themselves into pole position for Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana.
Long have the Red Devils been linked with Fofana, but only over the past fortnight have INEOS chiefs really accelerated their interest.
Throughout the summer window, the Frenchman has put the blinkers on in sealing a move to AC Milan. However, the Italian giants have failed to meet Monaco’s asking price on numerous occasions, which has prompted United to try their luck with a bid of their own.
Reds poke their noses ahead of Milan
Now, Sky Sports Italy (cited by Football Italia) has claimed that United are finalising an ‘important’ proposal to send the Ligue 1 outfit’s way – one that’s expected to ‘fall in line’ with their valuation.
Should it be accepted, senior figures at Old Trafford may then be put to work in convincing Fofana – who Statman Dave believes is a ‘complete midfielder’ – of the move, given that he has only had eyes for Milan up to this stage.
All in all, it will come down to how badly he wants to embark on a new venture ahead of the forthcoming campaign.
