Manchester United loanee Hannibal Mejbri’s time at Sevilla has been nothing short of bizarre thus far.

The 21-year-old departed Manchester for Seville in January in hopes of acquiring increased game time elsewhere, having only made four starts for United since the term began – as well as a further six appearances off the bench.

Surprisingly, a more prominent role has been significantly harder to come by for the youngster. Hannibal has featured in just four matches for Sevilla, once as a starter and three times as a substitute. He has been left on the bench more times than he’s played (five games) and was unused in their previous two outings against Almeria and Celta Vigo.

In total, Hannibal has been on the pitch for a mere 89 minutes, meaning United aren’t able to see how the Carrington graduate is faring on his temporary spell. The player rebuffed interest from Everton in order to move to Spain, though, in hindsight, he’d have been better off gaining senior experience under Sean Dyche.

As per a recent update from Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, there is a sense of ‘disbelief’ among Hannibal’s entourage, as they believe he is being ostracised by manager Quique Sanchez Flores and therefore watching his career ‘going backwards’.
