Universal Studios Hollywood will be closed Wednesday amid the wildfires and high winds that continue to ravage the Los Angeles area.

“Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk will be closed today as a result of the extreme winds and fire conditions,” the theme park announced in a statement. “We will continue to assess the situation and expect to open for business tomorrow. The safety of our team members and our guests is our top priority.”

Multiple fires stoked by powerful winds continue to burn from Pacific Palisades to Pasadena, forcing tens of thousands to evacuate and leaving an unknown number of homes destroyed or damaged. Multiple injuries have been reported, including a 25-year-old LAFD firefighter who is hospitalized with a serious head injury.

A smoke advisory has been issued around much of the Malibu Coast to Santa Monica, stretching all the way east to Pasadena, through 5 p.m. today.

Gov. Gavin Newsom posted on X early Wednesday that California had deployed more than 1,400 firefighting personnel to combat the blazes. “Emergency officials, firefighters and first responders are all hands on deck through the night to do everything possible to protect lives,” Newsom said.

Newsom declared a state of emergency for Pacific Palisades Tuesday after the wildfire erupted, quickly quickly growing to burn more than 2,900 acres.

Mark Hamill, Mandy Moore, and James Woods were among the stars who were forced to evacuate their Pacific Palisades homes.

The premieres of Universal’s Wolf Man, Amazon MGM’s Unstoppable, Paramount’s Better Man and HBO’s The Pitt, have been canceled due to the fires and fierce winds.
