Univision Moderator Says Kamala Harris Did Not Use A Teleprompter At Town Hall, Pushing Back On Claims By Right Wing Figures

The moderator of Thursday night’s Univision town hall with Kamala Harris is pushing back on claims that she used a Teleprompter at the event.

Figures such as Sean Hannity and Bill Ackman have advanced the claim, even though the Teleprompter text was written in Spanish.

Enrique Acevedo, the moderator, wrote on X on Thursday evening, “The prompter displayed my introduction (in Spanish) and then it switched to a timer. Any claim to the contrary is simply untrue.”

Daniel Coronell, president of Univision News, also posted, “The teleprompter that displays a text written in Spanish was a support element for the town hall moderator.”

But their comments didn’t stop Hannity and Ackman from making the claims this morning. Hannity’s X post was deleted after getting pushback from figures like Joe Walsh, the former Republican congressman who has endorsed Harris.

Harris’ town hall appearance in Las Vegas is part of a media blitz this week, with figures on the right seizing on particular moments. Her rival, Donald Trump, has blasted 60 Minutes over an edit of her segment on the show’s election special, and the former president has gone so far to call for CBS — as well as all other stations — to lose their broadcast licenses. The chairwoman of the FCC, Jessica Rosenworcel, condemned his remarks. Trump declined to sit down with 60 Minutes for his own interview.

Trump is scheduled to participate in a Univision town hall next week.

A spokesperson for Univision did not return a request for comment.
