Is Darby Allin still scheduled to climb Mount Everest?

Former TNT Champion Darby Allin hasn’t been seen on AEW programming since the final episode of Rampage. He was thrown down a flight of stairs by Jon Moxley and the Death Riders during this appearance. At the time, it was said he was being written off television to allow him time to prepare for his climb of Mount Everest this year.

Allin was supposed to make the climb in 2024. However, an injury during a match on Dynamite weeks before his scheduled climb forced him to cancel his plans. Now that we’re four months into this year, we finally have another update on what’s happening with Allin.

Darby first confirmed he was scheduled to begin his climb in April during his appearance at the All In ticket event at Globe Life Field in December. At the time, he told Denise Salcedo that he was excited for the endeavor, which would be a lot of work.

“I feel good, I wanted to do it, but when it got taken away from me, I really want to do it now. I feel like the timing and everything going into it, I feel [more confident in myself],” Allin told Salcedo. “It’s going to be exciting and it’s just a lot of work. To do that in the middle of [being] full-time with AEW, it’s a tricky — it’s a very, very tricky thing to maneuver, but I feel like I am ready. I can handle a lot.”

When will Darby Allin climb Mount Everest?

Salcedo spoke more about Allin’s status during an AEW Dynamite review video on her YouTube channel on Thursday. One fan asked if Allin could potentially be the Wild Card in the 2025 Owen Hart Cup tournament. Salcedo noted April 15 as the date Allin’s climb would begin and said that it wasn’t likely.

“I think he’s climbing Mt. Everest April 15th, is he not? I believe that’s the date he had given me in our interview,” Salcedo noted.

F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer (via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter) also reported on Friday that Allin will begin his climb of Mount Everest on April 15. So, for those speculating that Allin could be Hangman Page’s wild card opponent in the Owen Hart Cup tournament, this status update should end that speculation. It doesn’t look like Allin will be back in AEW anytime soon. The climb is expected to take him several weeks, not including recovery time.
