Things are changing. At SummerSlam 2024, WWE gave an update on its commentary teams as they transition out of the summer and into the fall season.
Veteran broadcaster Joe Tessitore will be joining WWE as part of the Raw announce team, while Michael Cole will be transitioning to Smackdown. This announcement was made during the “Countdown to SummerSlam” kickoff show, where Cole introduced Tessitore to the audience.
You can see the announcement below:
Tessitore expressed his excitement about joining WWE, particularly highlighting the thrill of walking out in front of the sold-out SummerSlam crowd with Cole. He praised Cole, calling him a “living legend” and noting the electric atmosphere of the event.
Initially, WWE’s press release indicated that Tessitore would be joining Corey Graves and Wade Barrett on “SmackDown.” However, it has now been confirmed that Tessitore will debut on Raw on September 2, while Cole will move to SmackDown just ahead of its shift to the USA Network on September 13.
Editor’s Opinion:
I was wondering when they were going to be bringing Tessitore in, with recent reports stating that Pat McAfee will be returning to College GameDay for the upcoming college football season. This is a huge win for WWE, as Tessitore brings decades of experience to the announce table. WWE continues to up its game and production value, and I’m excited for the future!
