UrbanID, a leading provider of digital identity solutions, has introduced an advanced technology poised to revolutionise identity management systems worldwide.

UrbanID showcased the new solution at the just-concluded ID4Africa 2024 conference.

The solution is aimed at reshaping interactions between individuals, businesses, and governments regarding digital identities.

UrbanID said in a statement that it was proud to present state-of-the-art digital identity solutions and products for the developing world, with specific emphasis on Africa and Southeast Asia, focusing on their unique identity management challenges.

The company acknowledged that its tokenisation technology would provide enhanced data protection and privacy, reducing the proliferation of personal data in insecure databases.

The founder and CEO of UrbanID, Olatunji Durodola, noted, “To ensure this, we use state-of-the-art hardware, hand-picked and custom-built by our engineers and computer scientists, who have decades of experience in enhanced data privacy, the development of open standards, hardware and bespoke software development solutions.

“From the Graphic Processing Units to the high-performance CPUs, to the highly secure Hardware Security Modules, to our optimised custom Linux Kernel, we are very proud of our work to put the developing world in particular at the pinnacle of innovation and creativity,” Durodola detailed.

The UrbanID CEO underscored the importance of user consent in handling personal information, particularly in the African context, during the unveiling of the company’s new digital identity solution.

“Our world-class, disruptive technology aims to simplify the process while maintaining the integrity of obtaining explicit consent from ID holders for identity verification,” Durodola said.
