US-based Ghanaian philanthropist donates GH₵ 200,000 items to Kpeve schools, health directorate

 A Ghanaian based in the United States (US), Kwame Orison, has do­nated assorted items worth over GH₵200,000 to some schools and health directorate at Kpeve in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region, to help address some of their pressing needs.

He told the Ghanaian Times that he procured the items from his own resources and generous con­tributions from Crievèwood Unit­ed Methodist Church in Nashville in the US, where he worships.

Mr Orison, popularly known as “Fo Kefa”, made the donations last week, the fourth of its kind since 2020, while on vacation in the country.

The items included 24 desktops and accessories, printers, laptops, routers, stereo speakers, dry erase markers, soccer balls, basket balls, sanitary pads,used clothes and shoes, among others.

The beneficiary schools were Kpeve Model basic school, Kpeve old town D/A school, Todome basic school, and Mawuli Girls School in Ho.

Fo Kefa stated that he owed it a duty as a native of the town in the diaspora to support the commu­nity each time he comes home as part of his responsibility, to help address some basic needs of the schools and health institutions.

He expressed the hope that his widow’s mite would help enhance teaching and learning in the schools.

Mr Orison entreated pupils and students to take their studies seriously to become assets and help build the nation, while com­mending the school authorities for their unwavering commitment to teaching and learning.

The Headteacher of Kpeve EP New Town Basic School, Eric ‘ju­nior’ Wura, who received the items on behalf of his school, expressed appreciation for the kind gesture and promised to put the items to good use.
