Marigold officially crowned Utami Hayashishita as the winner of their inaugural Dream Star Grand Prix tournament.
The final night of the Dream Star Grand Prix took place at the Nagoya International Conference Center this September 28. Utami Hayashishita secured her spot in the finals by defeating Kouki Amarei to top the Dream League at 10 points. On the other hand, Mai Sakurai took first place in the Star League block at 11 points following a victory over Misa Matsui that same night.
Hayashishita and Sakurai advanced to the finals of the Dream Star Grand Prix held in the main event of the show. The two competitors fought tooth and nail with their action spilling outside the ring and onto the entrance stage. Utami Hayashishita threw out all her powerhouse offense, but Mai had a counter for nearly all of her moves. After several near falls, Utami executed a picture perfect Spinning Torture Rack Bomb to pick up the win. Following this victory, Utami was awarded with the tournament trophy and a crown of marigolds.
She is also entitled to a future Marigold World Championship match. The belt is currently held by Sareee, but Bozilla also stands in the way following her singles victory over the champion earlier that same night.
WrestleZone will provide further updates on Utami’s upcoming Marigold World Championship match. As of the time of writing, Marigold does not have any major pay-per-view events scheduled.
