Wolverhampton Wanderers are braced for a surge of outside interest in their in-form talisman Matheus Cunha in the coming months.

For the Molineux faithful, Cunha has been one silver lining amidst a turbulent start to the 2024/2025 Premier League campaign, which has seen them claim only two wins in their opening 12 matches –  both coming in the last two gameweeks against Southampton (2-0) and Fulham (4-1) respectively.

The Brazilian has been influential in both, notching a goal and assisting Pablo Sarabia against the Saints before tallying a brace and another assist as Wolves overturned Fulham comfortably at Craven Cottage.

As such, his numbers for the season now make for remarkable viewing; Cunha boasts seven goals and three assists thus far and is therefore sitting alongside prolific Chelsea frontmen Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer at fifth in the Premier League’s top goalscorer standings.

Alas, it’ll come as no surprise to learn that the division’s top dogs are already contemplating how they can snatch the unstoppable 25-year-old, recently lauded for his ‘sensational football IQ’ by Micah Richards, from the West Midlands outfit. According to TBR Football, both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a close eye on Cunha’s form ahead of potentially going head-to-head in pursuit of him.

Newcastle United had scouts in attendance to witness his five-star showing in West London on Saturday, while Napoli are also monitoring the forward’s situation from abroad.

However, the report adds that O’Neil has received assurances from the Wolves hierarchy that there is no chance of any of his key men being sold in the January window. They will do their utmost to ensure the club stay in the top division and recognise that the likes of Cunha will be integral to their quest.
