Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State

The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma has been sworn in for a second term.

Uzodimma took the Oath of Office at around 3:24 pm in Owerri, on Monday after his deputy, Chinyere Ekomaru.

The Independent National Electoral Commission announced Uzodimma winner of the state governorship election held in November 2023.

Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress won the election with 540,308 votes while Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party came a distant second with a total of 71,503 votes.

Athan Achonu of the Labour Party polled 64,081 votes to come third in the election.

Among those present at the event are: President Bola Tinubu; former president, Olusegun Obasanjo; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; the Speaker of the House of Representative Tajudeen Abbas, All Progressives Congress chieftains, and supporters.
