The future of Vitor Roque is a problem for Barcelona must solve as we near the start of the summer transfer window.

Following the exit of Xavi Hernandez, the forward was expected to get a reprieve under new manager Hansi Flick. However, it appears the board is leaning towards a loan operation for the attacker in the coming summer.

Roque’s cause has not been helped by the fact that Barcelona are operating with a high salary mass, which could annul the forward’s registration after the end of June.

Valencia interested in Roque

Fortunately for Vitor Roque, the striker has no shortage of suitors, with a series of clubs interested in his services this summer.

According to AS, Valencia, too, are among the clubs keeping close tabs on Vitor Roque, with coach Ruben Baraja desperately looking for a new striker.

This comes on the back of reports over Barcelona’s potential interest in Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra.

However, the report assures that both operations will be done separately and not linked to one another.

Potential roadblocks for Valencia

Securing the signing of Vitor Roque will not be an easy task for Valencia. First of all, the player’s agent is adamant about his client remaining at Barcelona. Even if he leaves, they want to ensure that it’s a permanent deal.

Moreover, Valencia want to sign a striker, upon whom they have a semblance of control, which could come in the form of a buy clause.

Not to mention, Valencia are not competing in Europe next season, which is another problem given that Vitor Roque has received offers from clubs who will be playing European football.

Keeping that in mind, it won’t be surprising to see Valencia look towards other alternatives in the market, in their bid to reinforce the ranks in the attacking department.
