In a recent interaction with Lallantop, the Jigra star Vedang Raina expressed his admiration for the Rockstar starrer Ranbir Kapoor, deeming him a significant source of inspiration. Alia Bhatt and director Vasan Bala also joined the discussion.

During the conversation, while Vedang was singing, the host playfully suggested that Imtiaz Ali should consider making a sequel to Rockstar featuring him. Vasan added, “The behind-the-scenes for that would be even better.”

Vedang then shared that Rockstar is his favourite film and that he often sneaks a look at its behind-the-scenes footage. He remarked, “I’ve always been the biggest fan of Ranbir’s lip-syncing in Rockstar. I was really curious to see the film’s BTS. I wanted to know if Ranbir could actually sing… and it turned out his singing skills were quite poor. But that just highlights how talented an actor he is. As a singer myself, I tried to replicate his lip-syncs. Of course, in Jigra, it was a more exaggerated version, but I aimed to match his pitch.”

Vedang further elaborated that lip-syncing is a challenging task for actors. Alia also commended her father-in-law, Rishi Kapoor. She shared, “Ranbir would often mention that his father would encourage him to sing loudly. If anyone knew how to sing, it was Rishi Kapoor.”

Vedang Raina’s inspiration

Additionally, Vedang Raina revealed that he is a big fan of Shammi Kapoor, drawing inspiration from the iconic actor for his role in The Archies. He noted, “Before The Archies, I watched a lot of Shammi Kapoor’s videos. The style of my character was quite similar to Elvis Presley, and I felt Shammi Kapoor bore a close resemblance to him. So, I drew inspiration from Shammi Kapoor.”

Jigra is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions in collaboration with Alia Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions.
