Having gone into exile in Qatar, Marco Verratti could make his comeback to Europe this summer.
After eleven years at PSG, Marco Verratti, pushed out by Parisian management, decided to leave for Qatar last summer, where he signed up until June 2025 with the club Al- Arabi for 45 million euros. Despite this exile, the 31-year-old Italian midfielder still enjoys good popularity in Europe, where he could return this summer. His experience in the Gulf could therefore already end.
According to information relayed this Friday by the daily Sport, Marco Verratti would be in the sights of FC Barcelona. The Catalan club, which would have decided to part ways with Frenkie de Jong this summer, would seek to regenerate its midfield for next season. And the “Little Owl” is one of the tracks studied by the Barcelona board.
Verratti dreams of a return to the selection
Still according to the Catalan media, Verratti would not be closed to the idea of returning to play in Europe. Indeed, this would allow him to potentially make his return to the Italian selection, he who would dream of the 2026 World Cup. In addition, for Barça, the transfer of the Transalpine would not be very costly.
Besides Verratti, FC Barcelona would have checked other names to strengthen its midfield. Joshua Kimmich, Douglas Luiz, Martin Zudimendi and Marcelo Brozovic would appear on the Blaugrana’s shelves.
