Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Konrad Laimer, but the latter might not be too eager on the move.

After replacing Erik ten Hag in the middle of the campaign, Amorim is forced to work with a squad that was gathered by his predecessor. Therefore, he’ll be looking to gradually implement some changes over the coming transfer sessions, bringing in his own signings.

According to Bild, the Portuguese tactician would like to recruit Laimer who is considered a reliable and versatile player.

The Austrian has been plying his trade in the Bundesliga since making the move from RB Salzburg to their sister club RB Leipzig in the summer of 2017.

In 2023, the midfielder saw out his contract with Leipzig and joined Bayern Munich. And while he hasn’t been the first name on Vincent Kompany’s team sheet, he’s still deemed an important player at the Allianz Arena, especially for his ability to cover various roles. He mostly features as a central midfielder or a right-back.

Therefore, Amorim appreciates the 27-year-old’s traits, considering him suitable for his 3-4-2-1 playing system. He would also reunite with his former teammates Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

However, Laimer is said to be happy at Bayern, despite his relative lack of playing time this season. The source insists the player feels comfortable in Germany, and doesn’t sense the urge to leave the Bavarian giants, at least not at this stage.

The Austria international has a contract with Die Roten that runs until the summer of 2027.
