EXCLUSIVE: Former English soccer players and now veteran pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have teamed with NBC Premier League host Rebecca Lowe to launch It’s Called Soccer!, a new weekly podcast series.
The series will launch on September 18. Buzz16 will produce the series, with Wave Sports + Entertainment overseeing sales and distribution in the U.S.
Neville and Carragher will co-host the series with Lowe. The weekly format will feature the trio debating topics from the world of soccer alongside interviewing players and top talent across sports, film, TV, and music about their love for the sport.
Neville was an eight-time English Premier League winner with Manchester United player. He is now perhaps best known as a leading pundit for Sky Sports and recently joined NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage as a special contributor for the 2024-25 season. He is also the creator and frontman of the soccer-focused digital platform The Overlap. The platform features the popular Stick to Football series.
“Stick to Football on The Overlap channel has been a huge success because the show is a conversation about football by people who love the game – just like how fans do right across the world,” Neville said this afternoon.
“This is no different for those in America, so it’s fantastic we are creating something unique for them. I’m looking forward to joining Carra and Rebecca, along with some great guests, to discuss (and debate!) the biggest talking points from the Premier League and other leagues right across the world, including the MLS.”
Jamie Carragher played 17 years at Liverpool. He is best known to American audiences for his work on CBS’ Champions League coverage. Rebecca Lowe has anchored NBC’s Premier League coverage for over 10 years.
It’s Called Soccer! is Wave Sports + Entertainment’s latest high-profile digital series. The company also handles Podcast P with Paul George, 7 PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony & The Kid Mero, and The Right Time with Bomani Jones. The company also produces and oversees social media for the popular New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce.
