EXCLUSIVE: Filmmaker, actor, chef and television personality Eddie Huang has signed with WME.

Huang is coming off the Toronto world premiere of his film Vice Is Broke, which Mubi recently acquired for distribution in North America and select European territories. The film examines the rise and fall of Vice Media, which filed for bankruptcy in June 2023 after once being valued in the billions. Huang, who previously hosted Huang’s World for Vice, offers a first-person account of the company’s trajectory, blending cultural analysis with an exploration of the corporate and personal ramifications of its collapse. In addition to directing and appearing in the doc, Huang produced the project through his Cash Only banner, alongside QC Entertainment and Maya Rodrigo.

Vice Is Broke marked a return to work behind the camera for Huang, who made his feature directorial debut with Boogie, the 2021 basketball drama for Focus Features, which he also wrote and co-starred in, opposite Pop Smoke and Taylour Paige. He’s otherwise best known for his autobiographical book, Fresh Off the Boat: A Memoir, which was adapted into a critically acclaimed ABC comedy series of the same name that aired for six seasons.

For 10 years, Huang was the owner of Baohaus, which ushered in a new generation of Taiwanese-Chinese restaurants. He launched his entertainment career hosting cooking shows including Cheap Bites & Unique Eats and made four seasons of Huang’s World, which saw him traveling the world to learn about regional food, culture, and history.

Huang continues to be represented by M88 and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
