While facing Wolverhampton this Saturday with his team Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus was the victim of an inappropriate gesture from Yerson Mosquera. His reaction earned him a sanction.

Like almost everywhere in Europe, it was time for the return to action this Saturday for several Premier League teams. This is how Arsenal were out for their first match of the season, with the reception of Wolverhampton on the program. While Mikel Arteta’s men logically won (2-0), a scene that occurred during the match between Gabriel Jesus and Yerson Mosquera caused a lot of reaction.

The sequence occurred in the final minutes of the match. While he was taking advantage of a short timeout to put one of his boots back in place by leaning forward, the Arsenal player felt a hand slide onto his buttocks. In this case, that of his opponent who seemed to want to tip him forward. A gesture not at all to the taste of the Londoner who immediately straightened up and pushed Mosquera with both hands.

Mosquera escapes punishment

The Colombian defender happily dropped to the ground, prompting the referee to show Gabriel Jesus a yellow card. Jesus tried to explain what had just happened, but Mr Gillett stood his ground and stuck to his blunt decision. The Emirates Stadium crowd, who were not unaware of the incident, then booed the Wolves player until the final whistle.

And for good reason, since a little earlier in this match, Mosquera had already been guilty of a borderline gesture against Kai Havertz, appearing to hold him on the ground almost at neck level. He was not sanctioned for this gesture either.
