IMG Credit: CM Punk InstagramIt continues. There are certain ways to build a feud with wrestlers but in theory that means it will eventually lead to a match. That can be made trickier when a wrestler is injured and unable to get into the ring, though there are still things that can be done to make it work. That was the situation again this week as a longstanding feud took a big step forward on the way to a major match.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Book It? Here Are Two Major Matches WWE Has Planned For Summerslam
This week’s SmackDown featured an appearance from CM Punk, with the show taking place in his hometown of Chicago. During the show, Drew McIntyre interrupted a backstage segment by opening a garage door, revealing that he had attacked Punk and let him laying on the ground. McIntyre then carried Punk into the arena and stole a bracelet from him before leaving. This comes after McIntyre announced that he had quit WWE earlier in the week. The two have been feuding for months, with Punk costing McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. Punk is currently recovering from tricep surgery.

Opinion: This feels like a major step towards a showdown between Punk and McIntyre, likely at Summerslam in August. The feud has been set up for a long time now and it would be great to see it happen on such a large stage. That is something you do not get to see very often and they have made me want to see what they are going to do, which makes it a special occasion.
