IMG Credit: WWEHe’s next. Last month at WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes finished his story and became the new WWE Universal Champion. This made Rhodes the top star in WWE, which puts a heck of a target on his back. It means that he is going to have to defend his title against all comers, and that can include some rather talented stars. Now we know who is next up to come after the gold.

This week’s SmackDown opened with General Manager Nick Aldis announcing that Rhodes will defend his title against United States Champion Logan Paul at King And Queen Of The Ring in Jeddah, Saudi, Arabia. The match was described as champion vs. champion and Rhodes suggested that he could win the United States Title as well, though that was not clarified. The match will take place on May 25.
This could be good. Check out the announcement and the two in action:
Opinion: This is certainly a way to go but shouldn’t be the biggest surprise as Paul has regularly been presented as a top star in Saudi Arabia. The match should be good, though I would hope that Rhodes doesn’t win the US Title. He doesn’t need the belt and Paul has done well with it in a pretty long run. Either way, at least we have a title match set and that should be good enough.
