A former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has broken his silence regarding the upcoming governorship election in the state.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress end-of-year gathering held at his Isan Ekiti country home on Thursday, Fayemi publicly declared his support for Governor Oyebanji’s bid for a second term.

Addressing party-related matters, Fayemi announced that the date for the 2026 Ekiti Gubernatorial Election would be disclosed in April 2025. He also encouraged anyone interested in challenging the incumbent governor to step forward.

Fayemi said, “I’m a democrat, so I can’t discourage anyone from contesting for the governorship ticket. Anybody who feels capable can contest.

“But what I’m saying is that as for me and my family, we are for Oyebanji’s second term.”
