Willy Kambwala was excellent at the back against Liverpool on Sunday.
Manchester United earned a hard-fought 2-2 draw with their arch rivals with academy star Kambwala starting in the heart of our defence.
While Kobbie Mainoo was making the headlines at one end of the pitch, Kambwala was showing his potential at the other. The young French defender was called into the team due to injuries – starting alongside Harry Maguire – and he showed his maturity, strength and outstanding defending against a side challenging for the Premier League title.
The 19-year-old dealt with the treble threat of Liverpool forwards Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Luis Dias as United emerged with a point to dent Liverpool’s title hopes.
In the video below, Kambwala makes a superb recovery tackle before showing some emotion to rile up the crowd.
What a video.
My favourite Kambwala moment from the Liverpool game.
Loved the recovery pace and tackle, but the passion he shows just makes me love him even more. 💥❤️pic.twitter.com/ySKSfA2Yjr

It was an incredible test and he took his opportunity with both hands. Nobody was standing in his way. Especially not Nunez.
