Controversial Nollywood actor Ganiyu Kehinde Morufu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has backtracked on his earlier claim that celebrated actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele paid him a meagre ₦90,000 for a month’s work on her film set.
His initial statement had stirred up a storm online, with many accusing him of trying to smear the name of a respected box-office queen.
However, in a follow-up video posted on his Instagram account on Friday, Ijoba Lande clarified that he was actually paid ₦190,000—not ₦90,000 as previously claimed. According to him, the earlier video was “cut and joined,” which caused the mix-up and led to public misunderstanding.
Speaking in Yoruba, Lande pleaded for Akindele’s forgiveness, stressing that it was never his intention to tarnish her reputation.
“Funke Akindele gave me ₦190,000, not ₦90,000. Please help me beg Aunty Funke. The video was cut and joined, which led to the mistake. People only shared the part where I misspoke and not where I corrected myself. Please, forgive me. I don’t want to go to jail,” he pleaded.
In the video caption, the actor wrote, “Make God no let my mouth 👄 put me for big trouble oooh. I know mean it this way oooh pls help me beg #funkejenifaakindele pls I’m very sorry mama I didn’t mean it this way pls forgive me mama.”
