Lisandro Martinez returned to the starting 11 in a Premier League match for the first time since September 2023 this evening.
The centre-back has spent several months recovering from a foot injury after the metatarsal issue that saw his maiden Manchester United campaign end prematurely was re-aggravated.
Martinez’s presence in the backline, calmness on the ball and defence-splitting passes were sorely missed in his absence, but it’s seemingly business as usual for him upon his long-awaited comeback tonight; he made a crucial goal-line clearance early in the second half that stopped a certain Wolverhampton Wanderers goal, which would’ve halved the deficit at the Molineux.
