Matthijs de Ligt has opened the scoring with a superb header at St. Mary’s Stadium.
The Netherlands centre-back had to deal with a lot of criticism during the international break, but he has responded brilliantly to give United the lead against Southampton.
This means Southampton have gone 17 matches without a clean sheet, and they conceded shortly after missing a penalty at the other end of the pitch.
It was United’s third goal of the season and De Ligt’s first for the club.
